On December 9 and 10, a Music Meeting was held in Harkany. Upon arrival in Harkany, the opening of the meeting began with music points by students of both Music Schools. The director of the Kitaibel Pal Elementary School, Jozsef Levente Kiss, and the director of the Ivana Brlić Mažuranić Elementary School, Maja Škraba, welcomed them, recounting past meetings and wishing them to be even better.
The first day of this meeting was marked by a big concert of students from the Kitaibel Pal Music School, the Milko Kelemen Music School in Orahovica and the School Choir of the Ivana Brlić Mažuranić Elementary School.
The center of the Music Meeting in Harkany was a lecture by Professor Gyul Nagy on connecting colors with music. The professor showed how, for example, to connect lamps with keyboards so that each tone gets its own color and so that when playing that color is mixed. He also connected the same with the characters projected on the wall using a projector. This way, you can watch various shapes and movements while playing keyboards, drums or some other musical instrument. This was followed by a joint rehearsal of the wind orchestra of the Kitaibel Pal Elementary School and tamburitza players and students of the Music School from Orahovica. After a joint rehearsal, the family left. The students toured the city of Harkany on their own, where they were given free skating as part of Advent.
The next day we went to Pécs where we went on a tour of the concert hall “Kodaly”. The concert hall, which really deserves all the epithets, was also awarded the Interior Design of the Year 2010 award. Students and teachers were able to feel part of the richness of the sound by singing in a place where many world musicians and orchestras performed. All kinds of songs and compositions were sung. Hungarian folk songs, Christmas songs, the Croatian national anthem and many others were heard there. Then we went on a tour of the Zsolnay factory, which is famous for its ceramics and porcelain, and after that to the Museum of Games and Illusion, where you could try a few interesting things. For example: sinking a ship using air, generating electricity by cycling, table football using air blowers, etc. After Pécs, we returned to Harkany, more precisely to the reception of Harkany Spa, where a joint final concert of Christmas carols was performed.
The meeting concluded with the evaluation of the program and the distribution of diplomas to all students and teachers who participated in the project.
